|Employers Concerned About Graduate Skills: Report
A new report has recommended making skills like communication and problem-solving a mandatory and assessable part of university degrees.
The Federal Government-commissioned report has found employers are generally happy with the technical skills of graduates, but are concerned about the level of employability skills.
Education Minister Julie Bishop says she will be inviting universities to comment on how best to address the issue.
"I think universities would agree that for graduates to be employable they need to focus on the skills in areas such as communication, problem-solving and strategic planning, as well as just the academic aspects to a university education," she said.
The government report also recommends better links between universities and industry.
